I’ve also held onto it for a bit because we all know “pets as Christmas gifts for kids” are trigger words in the rescue community & I wanted to wait till the holiday season was over. That said, this family came to me having done extensive research, made plans for the long term and were SOLID in their willingness & desire to give a furever home to Nicky & Lilly. And it’s also as fitting & serendipitous as can be – Nicky was rescued on Christmas Day 2022 from an area mere blocks from the house he was adopted into on Christmas 2023 💥💥💥
Now it’s been over a month and Nicky & Lilly are soooo loved. Rules always have exceptions and this is it. Congrats to Nicky & Lilly on finding their furever home and congrats to this awesome & lovely family on becoming rabbit people 🐇❤️🐰 Last year was by far the most sad, brutal and difficult year of rescue work in my life and this happy ending was what I needed to feel like I could keep going. Sometimes we all need a beautiful shining light to help us move forward in the darkness. No one knows that better than these street buns 🥹
