This is Vivian, a lovely REW girl who I captured at a gas station on High Street last year. I’d been there hours and finally managed to nab her at 3am. She was checked out by vet at OAS and found to have been shot. People can be so cruel it blows my mind 🤯 She was lucky to get such good care from the vet and even luckier to land in an amazing home!
And as it turns out, she was part of a group of over 10 rabbits I’d picked up at a nearby site over the course of several weeks. When I was initially notified, I was told “one lost white bun” but as I’ve said before, it’s almost NEVER the number you think. In this case, it was over 10 times more! 🤯
We spent weeks at the site, trapping starving rabbits because we couldn’t find a way to enter the empty lot they’d been dumped at. We had to go the slow and time consuming route, trapping and checking traps nonstop for weeks. Anyone who’s helped me knows that I’m TERRIFIED of leaving stragglers behind. For a week after we appeared to have gotten them all, I still baited and checked traps every hour or so. Finally I was confident no bun was left behind but Ms. Vivian here had somehow crossed uber busy High Street and made it to the gas station 🤯😞
When I got there that night, I realized how close it was to the original site and it dawned on me that I HAD somehow missed her or maybe she fled that horrible site prior to trapping – but either way, I got her and she made it into a fabulous furever home! 👏👏👏 Yay for Vivian and her family, who may soon speed date to find her a partner 🐇🐰❤️
